Default Speaking of Pot

Interesting local story today about a Pot Convention coming in October! Oh boy, might have to check this out!

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/24421376/detail.html

PONTIAC, Mich. -- The former home of the Detroit Lions is going to pot this Halloween.

Pontiac Silverdome spokesman John Mozena said a medical marijuana trade show will be held Oct. 29-31 at the recently reopened stadium.

"The First International Cannabis Convention" will feature entertainers, exhibits, vendors, guest speakers, and edibles for qualifying patients with current medical marijuana cards. Attendees must be at least 18.

Police officials said city approval is not required, but marijuana is illegal in the Detroit suburb and smoking inside a privately owned building is illegal statewide.

Pontiac Police Chief Val Gross said he wants to be sure everything is on the up and up at the convention.

"You don't want a reputation as this is the place to come to get your marijuana groove on. I'm going to meet with those officials and advise them of our city code and state law and determine what use and what their plans are," Gross said.

Collette Marie works in Pontiac and said she's heard about the convention and wonders if it will turn into a pot party.

"I think kids of this generation, I have 21 and 22-year-old, think that because it's legal for medical reasons it's like a free-for-all," Marie said.

Marie said it's possible her business might profit from the convention.

"As far as it happening in Pontiac, I hope that I get business off of it. Maybe they'll all get the munchies and come down," Marie said.

The 80,300-seat Silverdome was home of the Detroit Lions until 2002 and was sold last year for $583,000 to Triple Properties Inc. of Toronto

I was at the first smoke-in at UCSC on 4/20/92 (I think was '92. Can't remember. ). We held it in front of the Chancellor's office. Jack Herer, author of "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" and "Uncle Ed" Rosenthal were in attendance.

All the dorks from the conservative paper were taking photos of everyone. Talk about not having a life.
